I keep adding information that I hope will fill in any blanks I left when writing the initial guide. After reading my tutorials, make sure you read my blog posts.

I built Just Enough WordPress as a Hestia theme tutorial. First I provide a general overview of Hestia theme and then I provide in-depth instructions that guide you through the process of building your own great-looking website.

Why Choose Hestia Theme?

I’ve been building websites for 30 years and most of that time I’ve also been teaching newbies how to build their own first website. I know from experience that keeping it simple delivers the best chance of success for WordPress newbies. This Hestia theme tutorial shows you how to keep it simple while producing a professional-looking website.

Overwhelm Is Your Biggest Enemy.

It’s tempting to start with a powerful theme such as Divi or GeneratePress. However, these themes have a massive learning curve. That learning curve leads to you, the site builder, becoming overwhelmed, disillusioned, and giving up out of frustration.

Hestia Theme Is Designed For Newbies Like You.

Hestia is one of the easiest WordPress themes to use and for a newbie, ease of use trumps almost everything. Combine that ease of use, with Hestia’s professional looks, and you’ve got a winner. For a WordPress newbie, Hestia theme is a dream come true.

Add-ons Built With Hestia In Mind.

Themeisle built Hestia theme. They provide two of the most popular themes in the official WordPress theme directory, Hestia and Neve. You can build your website using just WordPress and Hestia. But it’s easier if you install a few WordPress plugins. I often recommend Hestia users install two WordPress plugins made by Themeisle. Those plugins are Otter Blocks and Orbit Fox. These plugins provide many useful extras, including ready-made page templates and a cookie notice banner.

Why Good Training Is Hard To Find.

Before 2018, most WordPress websites used the same easy-to-use interface called the classic editor. Using the classic editor was like using a word processor. It had few design options such as headlines, lists, bold and italic.

After 2018, WordPress encouraged every theme developer to include their own propriety page design and layout system in the themes they built.

Now, learning WordPress is a two-step process because every WordPress theme works differently. First, you learn how to add pages, posts, and navigation bars to your website using WordPress, then you learn how to add content to those pages using the tools included with your specific theme.

Does Your Theme Provide Good Enough Training?

I built this Hestia theme tutorial to provide just enough WordPress training to help newbies get started building their first Hestia website. Most, WordPress theme developers do not provide adequate training for the WordPress newbies who would like to use their themes. Too often, new users must figure it out for themselves. This website, Just Enough WordPress, helps you figure it out, find your feet, and get started using WordPress and the Hestia theme.
